Woodland Maths is an educational maths app for children aged approximately 4 to 7. We built it with a privacy-first approach: no accounts, no advertising, and no sale of personal information.
1. Introduction
Keystroke Solutions Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with the Woodland Maths mobile application (the “App”) on Apple iOS and Google Android.
Keystroke Solutions Ltd acts as the data controller for the App. This policy covers the App only. Our website privacy practices are described separately in the Keystroke Solutions website Privacy Policy.
2. Children’s privacy
Woodland Maths is intended for use by young children under adult supervision.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children such as full names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, precise location, or contact lists.
- Profile names in the App are chosen from preset options or entered locally by a parent or guardian. We do not verify identity and we do not transmit profile data to our servers.
- Settings that may open external links (such as the App Store or Google Play listing) are behind a parent gate and are not intended for children to access alone.
- The App does not contain third-party advertising.
- The App does not use behavioural advertising or cross-app tracking.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through channels outside the App (for example, via our App & Game Support form), please contact us and we will delete it.
3. Information stored on your device
All gameplay and profile data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate user accounts and we do not sync this data to our own servers.
The App may store:

This data stays on your device unless you delete it or remove the App.
We do not collect:
- Email addresses, postal addresses, or phone numbers
- Photos, videos, or audio recordings from the device microphone or camera
- Precise or coarse location
- Contacts or calendar data
- Government identifiers
- Payment card or bank details
4. Information processed when the App connects to the internet
Woodland Maths is designed to work offline for gameplay. The App does not require an internet connection to play exercises.
The App may connect to the internet in these limited cases:
4.1 App updates (Expo Updates)
The App uses Expo Application Services (EAS) Updates to check for and download software updates (bug fixes and content improvements). When an update check runs, technical information such as your app version, platform (iOS or Android), and update channel may be sent to Expo’s servers.
Expo processes this information to deliver updates. Expo’s privacy practices are described at expo.dev/privacy. We do not receive personally identifiable information from Expo Updates.
4.2 App store links (parent area only)
When a parent or guardian passes the parent gate and opens the App Store or Google Play listing from Settings, your device’s browser or store app handles that request. We do not receive information about that action.
5. Data sharing and confidentiality
We strictly protect your privacy. Under no circumstances do we share, sell, lease, trade, or distribute personal data from the App to third-party advertisers or data brokers. The App does not transmit child profile or learning progress data to our servers.
Limited technical data may be processed by service providers that help us operate the App (such as Expo for software updates). Those providers process data only as needed to deliver their service, under their own privacy terms.
6. Permissions
Woodland Maths requests only the permissions needed for its educational features:
- Audio playback – background music, sound effects, and pre-recorded voice instructions (stored in the App; not streamed from the internet in normal use)
- Vibration / haptics – optional tactile feedback (can be turned off in Settings)
- Screen awake – keeps the screen on during play so children are not interrupted mid-exercise
The App does not request access to the camera, microphone, photo library, location, contacts, or calendar.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because data is stored on your device:
- Delete a child profile – removes that profile’s name, avatar, and progress from the device.
- Delete the App – removes all locally stored App data from your device.
We do not retain copies of on-device profile or progress data on our servers because we do not collect it.
8. Analytics and crash reporting
Woodland Maths does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
9. UK GDPR compliance
As a registered British corporate entity, Keystroke Solutions Ltd processes information relating to the App in accordance with the UK GDPR. Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies:
- On-device gameplay data is processed on the basis of performance of the service you request (running the App and saving progress locally).
- App update checks are processed on the basis of our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure, reliable application.
- If you contact us via our website support form about the App, we process the details you provide under consent and legitimate interests to respond to your enquiry.
We retain contact-form enquiries only as long as necessary to manage your request. On-device App data remains on your device until you delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information.
Because Woodland Maths stores gameplay data only on your device, the fastest way to delete data is through the App’s profile deletion or by uninstalling the App.

We will respond within a reasonable time and within any period required by applicable law (typically one month under UK GDPR).
You may also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or your local data protection authority.
11. International users
The App is published from the United Kingdom. If you use the App outside the UK, your information may be processed according to this policy and applicable local laws. On-device data remains on your device unless you delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App changes. We will post the updated policy at this page and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be noted in App Store or Google Play release notes.
